Cynthia Ozick (b. April 17, 1928, New York City, New York to William Ozick and Celia Regelson) is an American writer whose works are all about Jewish U.s. life. Ozick earned the B.The. from either New York University in 1949 and a M.The. from either Ohio State University in 1950. She has been awarded the National Endowment for the Arts fellowship (1968), an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award for Literature (1973), and the Guggenheim Fellowship (1982).

Her freshly novel Heir to the Glimmering Globe (2004), known as A Bear Son in the United Kingdom, has received much praise in the literary click. She is widely considered to exist as an expert of the modern novel.

She is on the short list for the 2005 Man Booker International Prize.
